Like swimming in a salt water aquarium.
Our tour was wonderful - in all aspects. The crew and their attitude was excellent. Heni was extremely knowledgeable about the area, culture and history having been born and raised on Caye Caulker. We laughed a lot. She took the time to explain how to make the local chicken dish that we've enjoyed all three times we've been to Belize, as well as directing me to the grocery store to buy the proper spice. The boat, equipment and facilities were fastidiously clean. The size of our group was just right.
Our first snorkeling stop put us snorkeling at the reef. The coral and marine life there were spectacular. It was like swimming in a salt water aquarium. James continually came up with interesting things for us, from a HUGE hermit crab and touching a manta ray he was holding for us to playing with a moray eel to coax him out of his hole so we could see him. Our second stop was in shallow water with 30 - 40 manta rays swimming all around us. It was fun to have them brush by you with their big eyes watching for the next morsel of food provided by the crew.
The salsa and chips provided for us on our trip to Caye Caulker were delicious and welcomed after our snorkels. When we arrived at Caye Caulker, we were greeted by friendly staff in a quaint restaurant with seating looking out toward the beach. The meals we had were excellent (the chicken was prepared in the local manner) and served with rice/beans and cole slaw. The shrimp burrito was also good. The drinks were well received, too. Coconut rum and fresh pineapple juice. You can't get any better than that. We walked a short distance to the grocery store and picked up the local spice for chicken, as well as some local hot sauce and a Belikin beer glass (local beer). They also had a selection of locally produced coconut rum. Our third trip to Belize was made excellent by our experience with Coral Breeze and Hammerhead Tours. We'll be back!
