Truly something out of a travel magazine.

When we got in port and met the crew in front of the Wet Lizard, I was worried about making it back to the ship on time, REALLY WORRIED because of the short time in port. "Mr. Big" totally reassured me that we would be back in plenty of time for the last tender....and they did not disappoint!!! We got back with enough time for a beer, YAY! On our way out we were told we MIGHT see dolphins, (my fiance has never seen wild ones, and he announced this as if to apologize for a possible jinx of the boat seeing any). Well, we saw six dolphins, and they stayed around us for quite a while. It was amazing! The boat ride was about 15 min to Bannister Island....pulling up to the island was...WOW. It was truly something out of a travel magazine. We did not snorkel, so that meant that we got 1.5 hours on the island, and we spent a good hour of that in hammocks that were underneath a covered dock.....I could live there! We then got some food at the bar, I got grouper (oh so good!) and my fiance got a burger (really?? who gets a burger on a tropical island?....anyway, he said it was really good). I waded out into the water near the kayak slip and ended up finding three pretty good sized starfish, the water was amazingly clear, and just gorgeous! Our chance to see manatees was on the way back to port. We wound through some small islands and mangroves, and we were able to see about four manatees. They didn't come to the surface like dolphins. They just kind of bobbed along and once in a while you could see them just under the surface, or a snout would come up...but it was great just the same. And as I said above, we got back to the port and had a beer, caught the 2nd to last tender! This trip was one of our favorites, and the crew on the boat were just great, very helpful and fun.
