Ivar, our guide, knew every inch of the cave system and river.

This excursion was one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide, Ivar, was exceptional in friendliness and knowledge. He was there waiting for us when we came off the boat. We quickly took care of paperwork and then we were off in an oversized van.

The excursion was everything that we had hoped for...an easy walk through a jungle-like setting where the vegetation around us was explained. That was followed by a 'leap' into the river (you didn't have to leap...but some of us did) and a mild 'float' down a river through various cave systems. Some of the caves opened up into some impressive rooms where many formations could be looked at and admired. The river did have some small rapids...but nothing of concern. Ivar, our guide, knew every inch of the cave system and river and was there to coach us all along the way while in the water. After our activities, and along our way home, we did stop at a fun place to eat where we were given a very nice (and tasty) meal.

There were 11 of us, including our 70-year-old parents and in-laws. Our parents are still talking about this expedition. Watching them get into the river and into their inner tubes was worth the cost! Ivar coached and monitored them extremely well.

I had originally booked this excursion through the ship. However, upon finding out that Coral Breeze would do this excursion for nearly half the cost, we took a chance...and it worked out great. And...the Coral Breeze tour is a longer tour (more time hiking and more time in the river and in caves).

By not booking through NCL, our parents were fearful about getting back to the boat in time. It was a non-issue. Ivar knew the schedules and had us back with plenty of time to spare. We even did a little souvenir shopping before getting on the tender to go back to the ship.
