Experience Belize on your own and avoid the high prices and crowds of cruise ship sponsored shore excursions. With our tour, you will be able to snorkel two premier locations bordering the Hol Chan marine reserve, relax amid the tropical tranquility of Caye Caulker, and save money all at the same time. Fresh fruit, plus purified water, are included.

The value we offer can't be beat. Not only do we take you to two snorkel locations, but you'll also appreciate the extra attention provided by our tour guides.

Traveling with a group that includes both snorkelers and non-snorkelers? We provide a discounted observer option that allows non-snorkelers to stay behind on Caye Caulker or remain on the boat while others are in the water. Observers marvel at the same coral and marine life in the crystal-clear waters as their companions.

A reef fishing option is also available. Your entire group can stay together while each member enjoys his or her preferred activity.

Coral Breeze's snorkel adventure includes:
  1. Snorkeling at Belize's world-famous Shark/Ray Alley.

  2. Snorkeling at Coral Gardens along the Barrier Reef.

  3. Lunch at a local restaurant on Caye Caulker (if lunch option selected).

  4. Shopping, beach bumming, and sightseeing on Caye Caulker.

  5. Snorkel fins, mask, tube and life vest.

  6. Purified water.

  7. Fresh fruit.

  8. Tour guides licensed by the Belize Tourism Board.

  9. Captain and crew licensed by the Belize Port Authority.

  10. Tour operator licensed by the Belize Tourism Board.

Your tour begins at the Belize Tourism Village, the site at which all cruise ship tenders drop off their passengers. Early arrivals may have time to browse the shops in the village. At the departure time, you will board one of our snorkel boats for the scenic ride to Caye Caulker.

Your first stop will be Caye Caulker for a quick restroom break. At this point, the guests who wish to fish will be introduced to their guides to begin their adventure. If you have elected the "tour observer" option, you will be provided instructions and can begin your exploration of Caye Caulker. The snorkelers will stay on the boat and head out to the Barrier Reef in the new section of the Hol Chan marine reserve, which is about one mile from Caye Caulker.

The first snorkel location is Coral Gardens, where you will be dazzled by coral formations teeming with marine life in pristine waters. After spending approximately 45 minutes of snorkeling at Coral Gardens, you will take a four-minute ride to the famous Stingray Alley. On most days, it's not long before rays swim toward the boat. They're attracted by the prospect of sardines and other chum fish that we toss their way. The nurse sharks, which have been staging a comeback in Belize, are a little more timid.

Don't worry. Both the rays and nurse sharks are harmless. To prove the point, your tour guides will enter the water with you to help you make the most of your snorkeling experience. As rays glide around you, your guides will draw your attention to the most spectacular underwater sights and offer snorkeling advice. If you're lucky, a couple of the friendlier nurse sharks may join the fun.

After roughly 45 minutes of snorkeling at Shark/Ray Alley, you will return to Caye Caulker to explore the island, stroll, and relax. If you selected the lunch option, you will enjoy your meal only a few feet away from the Caribbean.

The island of Caye Caulker offers many shops, bars/restaurants, and sightseeing experiences. The locals will warn you that a speeding ticket will be issued if you move too fast. "Laid back" is an understatement!

From the island, you will board your tour boat for the trip back to the Tourism Village. Time permitting, you will be able to browse the local shops or enjoy a drink at the Wet Lizard before catching your tender back to the ship. By then, you'll likely be looking forward to your next visit to Belize.

 More Information

Length of Tour: 4 hours, 45 minutes

The tour length is an estimate. We adjust the length of our tours to fit the cruise ship itineraries of our guests.

Location of Tour Departure:
Your tour departs from just outside the Tourism Village in Belize City (the dock area where the cruise ship tender boats drop off their passengers). As you disembark from your tender boat, go to Terminal 4 (aka the Pirate Terminal) and pass through the iron gates. Just outside the gates, you will see a sign for Coral Breeze Adventure Tours (our local operations partner) and will be met by your guide. Please ask for Ivar, Star, or Javier if you cannot find your guide.

Our tours are scheduled to fit within the port time of the cruise ships arriving in Belize City. We monitor the cruise ship tender schedules and plan our tour itineraries to give you plenty of time to return back to your ship.
What to Bring:
Sunscreen.
Beach towel.
Swimsuit and cover-up.
Water shoes or flip-flops.
Bug spray may be needed on some days.
Camera.
Cash for purchases.
Level of Physical Exertion:
The snorkeling portion of this tour is conducted from the snorkel boat. The water depths are 4 to 25 feet with slight to moderate currents (depending on the weather). Although snorkelers are outfitted with lifevests and flippers to keep them afloat, they should have some swimming ability to fully enjoy the tour. Entering and exiting the water is done with a ladder similar to those used in swimming pools.

Caye Caulker participation requires some walking on sand paths. Golf carts are available for rental on the island.

Reef Fishing is conducted in open skiffs on the other side of the reef. Minimal physical exertion is needed to participate.
Refunds and Balance Payments:
Your deposit is fully refundable if you cancel your reservation at least 3 days before your tour. In addition, you will receive a full refund if your cruise ship does not stop in Belize for any reason, or if weather conditions or other factors force us to cancel your reservation. Balance payments in Belize must be paid in cash with U.S. dollars. If you wish to pay your balance in advance by credit card, a surcharge of 4 percent of the payment amount will be charged to your credit card.
